M & S Schmalberg Silk Flowers

On Tuesday, March 5th, 2019, our class went to M & S Schmalberg Silk Flowers on 242 W 36th Street #700. This company manufactures luxury silk flowers. We got to have a tour of their factory and see how flowers are cut from fabric by machine and then hand picked and arranged to form a variety of flowers. The guide was extremely helpful and it was really interesting to see an actual factory in the garment district. They are one of the last silk flower producers left in the area and we were lucky to experience that. The weights they use to press flowers we quite heavy and some were even still hot from the press. It was an interesting experience the have, it has not yet been my favorite, but I am glad we got to see it.
